California Highway patrol investigated a fatal car accidentin the City of Irvine late April on the I-5. Several people were injured and 2 died as a result of the incident. Irvine is notorious for its southbound traffic and on this day the delays were catastrophic due to the 3 left lanes that were closed off for hours.

2 Dead and 5 Hospitalized in Fatal Car Crash

The fatal car accident spread for over 100 yards on the I-5 resulting in vehicle collisions where 5 people placed in the hospital and 2 were found dead at the scene. The first accident that took place was just a few hours before dawn between exits Jeffrey Road and Culver Drive facing Northbound. A red Mitsubishi Mirage has been claimed to be responsible after it was spotted swerving across 3 lanes on the freeway hitting the center divider. When officials arrived at the site, they found multiple vehicles had collided. California High Way Patrol is still seeking additional information and urges any witnesses to call the Santa Ana Police Department.

A young woman had come to aid the man driving the Mirage who was unable to move in the carpool lane when a Toyota Camry failed to yield to the accident and hit the Mirage making his own vehicle —a Camry— crash with another unsuspecting vehicle, this time an Altima driven by a 46 year old man who who’s car then came to a halt at the right shoulder. The Camry was at such speed that it came back towards the center divider and crashed with a Blue Chevrolet. The Camry carried 2 passengers, a woman 46 and a man 52 both residents of Rancho Santa Margarita. Their injuries were fatal. Some of the remaining victims at the scene received traumatic injuries and were taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana and others suffered minor injuries.
